Areas of Practice
I work with clients experiencing a range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, and challenges with sex and relationships.
I have received advanced training in the areas of sex and sexuality, and am experienced in supporting clients struggling with compulsive or ‘out of control’ sexual behaviours, challenges with sexual function, and concerns with sexual interests. I am an engaged member of the queer community and am particularly practiced in supporting other gay, bisexual, and queer men.
My Approach
I strive to offer a therapeutic experience that is both connecting and informed.
I blend critical and person-centred theories with cognitive-behavioural and emotional(ly)-focused approaches to practice. I believe that under ideal circumstances, we engage with our lives in ways that promote wellness and growth. Conversely, the imperfections of existence (e.g., physical challenges, hurtful relationships, stifling social contexts) can promote unhelpful or distorted thoughts, distressing feelings, or uncomfortable patterns of behaviour.
At the outset of therapy, I join with clients in exploring thoughts, feelings, and behaviours related to their concerns. I then leverage available theories and practices as we explore preferred ways of engaging with these challenges.
